Also known as Iressa, it is a selective epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is indicated for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in patients who have previously received chemotherapy or are unsuitable for chemotherapy.

It is also used in the treatment of refractory multiple myeloma when other medications are ineffective. Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer.
