Policresulen
CAS code:9011-02-3
Indications:
-
Gynecology:
For the treatment of cervical erosion, cervicitis, various vaginal infections (such as leukorrhea caused by bacteria, trichomonas, and fungi), vulvar pruritus, pressure ulcers caused by pessary use, hemostasis after cervical polyp excision or biopsy, condyloma acuminatum, and promotion of wound healing following electrocoagulation therapy. It can also be used for the prevention of mastitis (e.g., cauterization of nipple cracks). -
Surgery and Dermatology:
For local treatment of skin wounds and lesions (e.g., burns, limb ulcers, pressure sores, chronic inflammation), to promote necrotic tissue shedding, hemostasis, and wound healing; also used in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum. -
Dentistry:
For inflammation of the oral mucosa and gums, oral ulcers, and hemostasis after tonsillectomy.
Pharmacology:
- Antibacterial, antifungal, and antiprotozoal activity.
- Selectively acts on necrotic tissue and columnar epithelium, causing degeneration, without affecting normal squamous epithelium.
- Exerts a hemostatic effect by coagulating plasma proteins and significantly inducing vasoconstriction.
Policresulen has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, including against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as certain fungi—particularly effective against Candida, anaerobic bacteria, and Trichomonas.
